9:00 AM Tree Planting Ceremony– Cazenovia Garden Club in cooperation with the Tree Commission will have a tree planting ceremony at the fountain on Albany Street in the Village. A Garden Club representative will provide a brief introduction to thank the village for their dedication to the well being of the tree canopy in our community.
10:00 am to 2:00 pm. ‘Seize the Power: Climate & Energy Action Fair’, Hubbard Hall, Cazenovia College The fair is the kick-off of ‘Cazenovia Earth Week’

Exhibitors– Learn how to get started using money-saving energy technologies. Local vendors and agencies that focus on renewable energy and climate smart strategies will have representatives available to answer questions and provide information and resources.
Information from local and regional organizations will have displays featuring what their groups are doing to address climate change.
‘Kids Space’– This years’ fair brings back the popular ‘Kids Space’ where kids of all ages can enjoy creating awesomely fun climate and energy smart projects.
A bottle cap mural will be assembled designed by local youth, and created from thousands of non-recyclable bottle caps. This mural seeks to be a creative reminder that communities and corporations need to work together for a more sustainable alternative to our waste.
‘One Planet Youth Fair’– In addition, children aged 5-18 will be participating in ‘One Planet Youth Fair’ which will highlight their own scientific investigation or demonstration related to climate change. Prizes will be rewarded.
Electric Car Show– Electric Cars will be on display on Seminary Street in front of Hubbard hall with additional vehicles in the Cazenovia College parking lot on Nickerson Street. The event is registered nationally on the Drive Electric Earth Day website.
Sunday, April 19
10:00 – 1:00 pm – The 220 Tree Project– A tree installation at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park inviting carbon, wildlife and people. The U-CAN Tree Group, staff of Stone Quarry Hill Art Park and volunteers will be planting 220 trees in a design created by Landscape Architecture Students from SUNY ESF to educate about climate change and carbon sequestration. Please join us in creating this inspiring installation.
1:00 pm – Project Café Village Clean Up– Starting point: Public Parking Lot in front of Common Grounds (35 Albany St). Volunteers are asked to bring trash bags and gloves.
Monday, April 20
7pm – Movie night at Cazenovia Public Library. A discussion, led by Amy Leventer, Antarctic Specialist at Colgate University, will follow the movie.
Tuesday, April 21
10:00 am – Kids and Seniors Nature Exploration Event– Judy Gianforte is going to lead a short walk/nature exploration event for kids and seniors along Cazenovia Preservation Foundation Gorge Trail. Meet at Buyea’s parking lot. Sponsored by Cazenovia Preservation Foundation and Cazenovia TimeBank / Community Resources for Independent Seniors (CRIS).
7:00 pm – HeatSmart CNY– Reduce your home or building’s contribution to climate change and improve your comfort. New and significant financial incentives are available in NY to help make the transition. A presentation is followed by Q&A with expert installers. Cazenovia just passed a Village resolution endorsing this project. Cazenovia Public Library Community Room
Wednesday, April 22
3:00-5:00 pm – Annual Chittenango Creek Clean Up-Coordinated through the Cazenovia College Environmental Club. Meet at Buyea’s Hardware Store parking lot.
4:00-5:30 pm – Fake Nature, Art opening– Fake Nature is an environmentally themed art exhibit, will be outdoors on the grounds and throughout Jephson Campus 10 Albany St. Cazenovia College from April 22 – May 6, 2020.

10:15 am – Explore and Learn– Cazenovia Public Library invites children ages 3-6 to a special Earth Week Explore and Learn. There will be activities, books and a craft that will enliven kid’s connection to the Earth and all that inhabit it.
7:00 pm – Earth Themed Open Poetry Reading at Loka Leaf Tea Lounge. Open to all, with sign-up at the time of the event. Participants are invited to read their own poems on themes of earth, environment, ecology, and nature or they are welcome to read their favorite poems by other poets that deal with these themes.
Hosted by E.J. Evans a poet and musician living in Cazenovia. His most recent book of poetry is CONVERSATIONS WITH THE HORIZON. He has contributed poetry and prose poetry to Poetry East, RHINO Poetry, Rattle, Confrontation, New Mexico Poetry Review, Stone Canoe, Mudfish, and other journals.

Andy Pattison, PhD does research and teaches on sustainability and climate action planning at the state and local levels. He is committed to communicating with news outlets and the public on science-based policy issues in a clear and jargon-free manner. His presentation will include opportunities for discussion and audience interaction.

9:00 am – Rt. 20 Clean up. Sponsored by Cazenovia American Legion Post 88. Meet at Madison County Distillery, Rt. 20.
9:00 am – Arbor Day Celebration– Cazenovia Village Tree Commission will host the annual Arbor Day celebration in front of the Presbyterian Church. The event will be a planting of a young evergreen along with the Arbor Day Proclamation. Immediately after the ceremony, Jim Maloney, an ISA Certified Arborist, will conduct a walking demonstration of young tree pruning in the Sullivan St., Green St. and Hurd St. corridors. The event will end at 12:00.

10:00, 10:30, 10:45, 11:00 am – Tours of the Village of Cazenovia Water Treatment Plant (WTP).– The WTP is located on Water Lane which is about five tenths of a mile south of Albany Street on Chenango Street (at the Lincklaen house, head south on Chenango Street for half a mile, and turn left onto Water Lane). Come and learn about how drinking water gets pumped from the ground, is treated, and gets delivered to your house.
