The Environmental Club is sponsoring a school-wide media contest around the theme ‘Love Where You Live’. Students will submit artwork, poetry, and videos showing how they love their own little corner of planet earth. Submissions will be exhibited at the Earth Day Fair and prizes will be awarded.
Assemblyman Al Stirpe and Town of Cazenovia Supervisor Kyle Regar will kick off the Earth Day fair at 10:00 am. This year’s featured presentation is from Cindy Page, Wildlife Rehabilitator with her Birds of Prey program. She will speak and show the Birds of Prey at 1:00 pm. Cindy brings owls, falcons, and more to show live birds of prey. The birds used in the program are all permanent residents that are non-releasable. Pre-K students to adults alike will learn about predator-prey relationships, adaptations birds develop for their specific environments, and the role birds of prey have in the ecosystem.
Special Events During Earth Week:
Cazenovia Artisans is sponsoring our third Earth Day giveaway “Free For the Making.” Each year we have cleaned out our personal studios of the materials we thought we would use but haven’t: paints or drawing materials that don’t meet our needs anymore, equipment and books we are ready to share…whatever we want to move out that someone can use in their making.
This year we would like to invite artists from the greater community to join us in sharing whatever usable materials for creating they are ready to give up. Materials can be brought to Cazenovia Artisans on Friday April 17 or Saturday the 18th. We will man the give away for earth week or until it’s all gone. In the past we have shared remaining material with various reuse program..
