SUNY is part of Part of University Climate Change Coalition (UC3)
This coalition is committed to:
- 100% of its electricity from zero-net-carbon sources, 100% of its electricity from zero-net-carbon sources, as soon as possible
- 100% of the campuses increase resilience with feasibility studies to develop a microgrid for all or part of the campus
- 100% of all new buildings designed to net-zero carbon standards
SUNY previously committed to:
- to improving its energy efficiency performance by 20% by 2020 from 1990 levels
- reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 30 % by 2020 and 40 % by 2030 compared to 2015 baseline levels
- incorporating deep energy retrofits into capital maintenance projects across its campuses
- install renewable energy at each of its 64 campuses by 2020, with 50 % renewable generation by 2030.
